Lords of Dogtown
In the mid 1970s skateboarding was just a time waster for when there were no waves to surf. It was largely thought to be a dorky thing to be into. That was until the Z-boys from Dogtown came into the game. This movie follows the lives to three skaters who change the sport for years. Jay Adams, Stacy Peralta, and Tony Alva are just your normal surf punks who would rather cut school to catch waves. Once they hear that the local surf shop is putting together a skate team the dive right. Who knew right a piece of wood with wheels on it could change their lives.
Even though this movie plays up the drama that happen with 3 skaters it pretty true to the real story. It's a real look into what can happen to kids with talent just start to make money off it. They just wanted to skate and have fun but when business gets involved it doesn't stay that simple anymore. The sounds track to this is really amazing but it's hard not to when it based in one of the best decades in music. You even get an amazing performance from Heath Ledger which is always great. If you are any fan of skateboarding check this one out and get a cliff notes lesson in the history of it.
