Star Wars: The Last Jedi
This shiney new movie gave us so much in the way of answers and questions. First off this movie picks up immediately where The Force Awakens left off. Nothing to try to interpret, it is clearly laid out this is a continuation. Rey works on Luke enough to crack him to where he will give her lessons. He only shows her what seems is a minimal amount, and she is off to meet back up with the resistance. After she leaves the Jedi tree is set on fire by a force ghost Yoda (who knew force ghost could use the force in the physical world?) Then we jump to the to yet another powerful Sith dying rather quickly when you finally see him in action for a moment. Reminds me of a deformed version of Darth Maul. Kylo takes on the mantel as supreme commander of the First Order. Then we see the resistance hole up on a remote planet with no help. Except Luke shows up! But we find out it is another new force power as he never left his island. Luke sent a force projection across the galaxy! It was a cool use of new items and left enough questions for the next movie.
This movie was two and half hours of fun. It was sneaky funny. Chewy had the funniest scene with him eating one of the furry penguin things, and them all staring at him in horror as he was about to much on a roasted furry penguin. The crowd was unable to audibly laugh at several parts during the screening. The best part was when all audio drops during a lightspeed war occurs (it is intentional) and all I heard was "Ohhhh maaaaannnnn." There were some awesome scenes and the best was the cool lightsaber battle. Seriously worth seeing just for that! The movie really fleshes out Kylo Ren and makes him more understandable, but he still overreacts to everything. We see Luke resolve past issues he was shutting himself off from. I felt that we are seeing something take shape and ending the old characters one way or another. I can't wait to see where they take us next in the galaxy.
