Devilman Crybaby

Devilman Crybaby

Holy hell where to start.  I guess the beginning with our main character Akira.  He is an over emotional kid.  This is illustrated right away as they show him balling over a dying cat, and defending him from his best friend Ryo trying to kill it.  Fast forward to current and Akira is dragged by Ryo to a club scene in an old church believed to house demons.  Ryo doesn't believe demons are there, so to coax them out begins to murder people with a broken bottle.  It works with great effect and end with Akira being possed by demon and gaining demonic powers but able to keep his human heart.  This combo causes him to be a Devilman.  The show makes it known devils don't have emotions and by having a human heart he tries to defend people from demons.  Now Akira wants to stop all other devils and follow the rabbit for the remaining 10 shows.

This show is an amazing acid trip art show and I couldn't get enough of it.  Based off the manga that was created all the way back in the 70's! Akira and Ryo's relationship drives this vehicle with such grace that it makes me salivate for more.  The devil's that they show are grotesque and interesting in their appearance, this makes it an joy when they have screen time.  The moment a devil appears you wonder what chaos is going to occur.  The story is just a masterpiece that ends with biblical scorched earth!  They tie in things that make it feel present right now, such as people admitting being a Devilman and being crushed by the internet.  As a side not there is a ton of rap setting the episodes that are not translated so hey whatevs it works.  This is one of those shows I want as many people that I know to watch. It truely is a thing of beauty.
