Ain't no glass slippers in this movie. Cinderella Man is base on the true story of James J. Braddock. He was a boxer from New Jersey who was at the top of his game and on top of life. Though luck ran out quick for everyone once The Depression hit and it gave James and his family the one two combo. No longer competing in the ring he now has to compete for shifts down on the docks to just put food on the table. That is until his manager comes to him with some fairy godmother news that he can get him back in the ring for one last run at glory.
This is one of the most underrated boxing movies out there. It has everything thing that an underdog story needs. The man down on his luck, the shitty commissioner, and the cocky champion you need to hate. Then tells a story how with grit, hard work, and doing what is right you can reach whatever goal you set. Russel Crow plays the role of Jame J. Braddock in tremendous fashion. Being the it is set in The Depression get to see him in some scenes with real emotion. This was also done around the time were he was nailing any roll he was given. It is an amazing film so go watch it now and going run some stairs. Oh wrong movie.
